A Course in Miracles is a self-study course that consists of the Text (622 pages) and the Workbook (366 lessons, one daily for a year). It is intentionally and carefully structured to help bring new experience by removing all obstacles to awakening. Its use of Judaeo-Christian language may seem foreign to some, but it is designed to transcend the ego's limiting beliefs and raise up awareness to a higher level of consciousness.

The Workbook
David Hoffmeister is a modern-day mystic who is dedicated to the practice of ACIM. His teaching style is gentle and powerful, emanating a radiant joy and a deep commitment to Truth. He has been invited to 44 countries and 49 states to share his experience of the non-dual teachings of A Course in Miracles (ACIM), which is based on forgiveness of all separations.
The Course is a curriculum for training the mind to higher states of consciousness. It draws from three areas of study: psychology, Christianity, and education. It was scribed by two medical psychology professors at Columbia University, Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford, and later edited and published by Ken Wapnick, Robert Skutch, and Judith Helburn, with the help of philanthropist Reed Erickson. It was released on June 26, 1976.
A Course in Miracles consists of three parts: the Text, the Workbook, and the Manual for Teachers. The Text sets forth the concepts upon which the Course is based, and the Workbook contains 365 lessons that are to be completed one per day over the course of a year. The Manual for Teachers contains questions and answers to deepen the understanding of the concepts in the Text and Workbook.
In 1996, the Holy Spirit guided David to a small house in Florida where he continues to spend much of his time. The Peace House offers a sanctuary and retreat for those who wish to step away from the demands of daily life and go deeply within to discover the Christ in their own hearts. It also serves as the center of his worldwide ministry.
As a prolific writer, David offers many online resources to support the practice of ACIM. He has extensive archived teaching videos from gatherings and teaching sessions around the world, as well as searchable audios and a number of articles, such as Mind Overhaul and Purpose Is the Only Choice. In 2015, David was inspired to start recording himself reading the Text and then sharing his insights. He posted these on his Spreaker and YouTube channels. He also started gatherings in places around the world, welcoming anyone who felt a deep inner call for forgiveness to join him. In these heartfelt gatherings, he points beyond personal beliefs to the underlying metaphysics of God’s unconditional Love for All.
As his ministry expanded, he was guided to purchase a small house that became his Peace House, a retreat where he could focus on prayer and meditation between travels. As his knowledge of computers grew, he began developing websites to share the teachings of A Course in Miracles and the metaphysics of Oneness. He now has several websites, including the Foundation for the Awakening Mind, which serves as a framework to coordinate his worldwide activities and handle larger donations.
A Course in Miracles is a self-study curriculum that is designed to lead the student into consistent states of peace and happiness. While it uses Judaeo-Christian language, it transcends any specific religion or spiritual tradition. While it may at times use a highly intellectual approach, its overall purpose is to help the student recognize and release his or her ego’s limiting beliefs and come into a true experience of Christ’s Love and oneness.
The ACIM teachings are based on the belief that everything in the universe is connected through love, and that our goal should be to allow our love for each other to expand to include all of creation. These teachings can be profoundly challenging to our ego-based minds, as they ask us to give up all the things that we hold so dear. During this time, he was also guided to purchase a small house in Cincinnati, Ohio, which became his Peace House and the center of his global ministry. Here, he began recording his own readings of the Text and Workbook lessons, giving his insights at the end of each chapter. He was also guided to develop Levels of Mind and the Instrument for Peace, which are profound tools for tracing any upset back to its source in the mind so it can be released.
